Task notifications

Updated 21 Oct 2026 8 min Owner / managerLocation managerAuditorLocation staff Web appMobile app

jeCheck keeps task participants informed about everything important: who was assigned, what was written in the comments, when the status or due date changed, that a task is due today or already overdue. Notifications arrive as push notifications in the app and under the bell in the web dashboard, and by email you get a message about a new task and the morning summary.

Who gets notifications

Task participants — the author, assignees and watchers. You aren't notified about your own actions: if you wrote a comment or changed the status yourself, the others get the push.

Event Assignees Author Watchers
You were assigned to a task push + email — —
You were removed from a task push — —
New comment or file push push push
Status changed push, if the status was changed by someone other than an assignee push push
Due date changed push — push
Due today push in the morning — —
Task overdue (first day) push in the morning push in the morning —

If a task stays overdue longer than set in the company settings, the Escalation: task overdue push goes to the manager of the task's location, or, if the location has no manager, to the company administrators. The assignee doesn't get the escalation: they have already been reminded.

Request notifications

Requests from processes have their own notifications (the bell and push, according to your settings):

Event Who gets it
Your approval is needed / Accept the request work step participants — push and email
Someone passed you the decision on a request the person it was passed to
Request approved, accepted, sent back for revision the requester (if enabled in the process) and watchers
Request rejected the requester and watchers
Request completed or withdrawn the requester, watchers and assignees
Step deadline is near (3/4 of the time) and step overdue step participants
Request stuck at a step those the step escalates to when overdue

The assignee of an execution step gets the usual “You have been assigned a task”.

Audit violation tasks created by an automation scenario send reminders according to the scenario's rules — see Violation tasks from audits. They are included in the morning summary too.

Tasks in the department queue

A task assigned to a department without an assignee waits in the Department queue until someone takes it (Take it) or assigns it (Assign). So that such a task doesn't get lost:

When Who gets it How
The task arrives in the queue department heads (no heads — all members) or all members, depending on the department settings push
No one took it within the time set in If no one takes it department heads (none — admins) push + email
Still not taken after the same time again company admins and the manager of the task's location push + email
Every morning while the task has been waiting for more than an hour department heads (none — all members) push and a line in the morning summary

An admin sets the escalation time in Departments → department card → If no one takes it: 15 or 30 minutes, 1, 2, 4, 8 or 24 hours, or Do not escalate. For example, with 8 hours the department heads hear about the task after 8 hours, and admins and the location manager after 16. Each of these notifications is sent once. If the task is taken while the email is waiting to be sent, it won't arrive.

Morning email summary

Once a day, at the company's reminder hour, jeCheck sends the Your task summary email. It contains:

  • Overdue — your open tasks whose due date has passed;
  • Due today — your tasks due today;
  • Waiting for your review — tasks in the “In review” status that you created (for audit tasks — to whoever confirms completion);
  • Overdue in your team — tasks passed to you by escalation;
  • Waiting for an assignee in the department queue — your department's tasks that no one has taken for more than an hour, and how long they have been waiting;
  • New comments — colleagues' comments from the past day on tasks you take part in.

The summary is sent only if there is something in it. The Open tasks button takes you to the Tasks section.

Email about a new task

When you're assigned to a task, besides the push you get the You have been assigned a task email: the task name, who created it, the due date, the location, the description and an Open task button. Other events don't arrive as separate emails — they are collected in the morning summary. The exception is emails about tasks no one has taken from the department queue (see above).

Task emails are sent only to employees with web dashboard access. Employees in “App only” mode get notifications in the app only — see How to add an employee.

How to set up your notifications

  1. Open your profile. Click your name at the bottom of the side menu and choose Profile.
  2. Find the “Notifications” card. The rows are event groups, the columns are In the app and By email.
  3. Check or clear the boxes. The setting is saved immediately.

Groups: You were assigned or removed from a task, Comments and files, Status or due date changed, Due today, overdue, escalation, Morning task summary. The in summary mark means these events arrive by email only in the morning summary. The same card has notifications about the AI Control morning briefing — see How to set up the briefing and what the AI does on its own.

If you clear a box in the In the app column, push notifications won't arrive on your phone, but the notification is still kept under the bell.

You can also turn off an email right from the email itself: there is a link at the bottom that opens a page with a Turn off button.

Company settings: reminder time and escalation

An administrator sets the common rules in Management → Settings, the Task reminders card:

  • Morning reminders and summary — at what hour (from 06:00 to 12:00) the “Task due today” and “Task overdue” push notifications and the morning summary arrive. The default is 09:00.
  • Notify the location manager about overdue tasks — after how many overdue days to send the escalation: after 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days, or Don't notify. The default is after 2 days.

The time follows the time zone of the company's country.

Frequently asked questions

Why did I get one notification instead of several?

Several comments on the same task within 10 minutes are merged into one notification with a counter, so your phone doesn't ring for every message. Morning reminders also arrive as a single push: for example, “3 tasks due today”.

I didn't get a due date reminder. Why?

Reminders arrive in the morning on the due date and on the day after it. If a task has no due date, there are no reminders. Also check that the Due today, overdue, escalation group isn't turned off in your profile and that notifications for jeCheck are allowed in your phone's settings — see Push notifications.

Do watchers get notifications?

Yes: about comments and files, and about status and due date changes. Assignment notifications and due date reminders go only to assignees.

What language are notifications and emails in?

In your interface language — you choose it in your profile. More in Interface language and report language.
