# What jeCheck is and how it works

> How checklists, audits, violations, tasks and analytics fit together in jeCheck — and who works in which part.

jeCheck is a service for regular audits in multi-location businesses: restaurants, retail stores, fitness clubs and others. You describe your standard in a checklist, your team audits locations against it, and violations turn into tasks whose progress you can track in analytics.

## The jeCheck cycle

All work in jeCheck follows one cycle:

1. **Checklist.** An administrator describes the standard: sections, questions, scoring criteria, required photos. Checklists are created in the web dashboard under **Work → Checklists**.
2. **Audit.** An auditor opens the checklist in the jeCheck mobile app and completes it at the location. You can plan who audits what and when in advance under **Work → Planner**.
3. **Violations.** Questions answered negatively become violations. Each audit produces a report with the location's score.
4. **Tasks.** Violations become tasks with a due date and an assignee — manually or automatically: based on the question settings in the checklist or on a scenario in **Work → Automation**.
5. **Analytics.** Audit scores, frequent violations, audit plan completion and task completion all come together in **Analytics**.

Once violations are fixed, the next audit shows whether things have improved — and the cycle starts again.

## Web dashboard and mobile app

jeCheck has two parts:

- **Web dashboard** ([app.jecheck.io](https://app.jecheck.io)) — for administrators and directors: company, location and employee setup, the checklist builder, planner, tasks, analytics and the other modules.
- **jeCheck mobile app** — for people working at locations: conducting audits, tasks, tests and instructions.

The same email and password work for both the web dashboard and the app. An administrator can close web dashboard access for an employee — they then work only in the app (see [Web dashboard access and “App only” mode](/docs/team/web-access)).

## Who's who

- **Administrator** — sees all sections and all locations, and sets up the company, users, checklists and automation. Whoever registers the company automatically becomes an administrator.
- **User** — a regular employee. In analytics they see only the locations they are assigned to. A user can be a location manager.
- **Position** (role) — for example "Chef" or "Barista". Violation tasks are sent, and tests and instructions assigned, based on an employee's position.

For details on permissions, see [Roles and permissions — administrator, positions, managers](/docs/team/roles-and-positions).

## Additional modules

Besides the main cycle, jeCheck includes:

- [**Instructions**](/docs/instructions) — your company knowledge base;
- [**Testing**](/docs/testing) — employee knowledge checks;
- [**Mystery shopper**](/docs/mystery) — audits through a customer's eyes, via a link, with no app;
- [**HACCP**](/docs/haccp) — logs, deviations and the HACCP plan;
- [**AI assistant**](/docs/assistant) — answers questions about your company's data and prepares drafts.

Some modules are available only on the paid plan — see [Plans and billing](/docs/account/pricing).

## Where to start

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I conduct an audit in the web dashboard?

Audits are conducted in the jeCheck mobile app. The web dashboard is for preparing checklists, planning audits and reviewing results. The exception is "Mystery shopper": the shopper fills in the form in a browser via a link.

### Do I have to pay for each employee?

No. You can add unlimited users; pricing depends on the number of locations. See [Plans and billing](/docs/account/pricing).
