You build a checklist in the builder: sections and questions on the left, settings for the selected question on the right. Changes are saved automatically — there is no separate "Save" button for questions.

## What you need

- company administrator rights — the **Checklists** section isn't available to other employees;
- a list of audit items grouped into sections.

## Create a checklist

1. **Open the section.** In the **Work → Checklists** menu, click **Create checklist**.
2. **Enter a name.** At least 3 characters, for example "Daily sanitation audit". You can change the name later.

3. **Click "Create".** The **Checklist builder** opens right away.

## Add sections and questions

1. **Create a section.** In the **Sections and questions** column, click **Section**, enter a name (at least 3 characters) and click **Save**.
2. **Add a question.** Under the section, click **Add question** — a "New question" appears and its settings open on the right.
3. **Change the order.** Drag a question with the mouse to the right place or into another section.
4. **Rename or delete a section.** Click **…** next to the section and choose **Rename** or **Delete**. Deleting a section also deletes all its questions.

## Configure a question

Select a question in the left column — its settings open on the right:

- **Name** — the wording of the item that the auditor sees.
- **Description for the auditor** — a hint on what to check and how.
- **Question type** — **Yes / No** (answer options: Yes, No, Skip) or **Text field** (free-form answer). Text questions don't affect the score.
- **Weight in points** — a whole number from 1. Used only if the checklist's scoring method is **In points**.
- **Photo required** — the question can't be answered without a photo.
- **Allow skipping** — the auditor can skip the question. A skipped question isn't included in the score.
- **Attachment sources** — where a file can be attached from: **Camera**, **Gallery**, **Files**.
- **Who fixes the violation** and **Auto task** — who gets a task if the answer is "No". Learn more in [Automation](/docs/automation).

The **Duplicate** button creates a copy of the question in the same section; the trash icon deletes the question.

## Checklist settings

Click **Settings** in the builder's top bar:

- **Name** and **Description**;
- **Who can use the checklist** — the employees who will see it in the app. If no one is selected, the checklist is **Available to everyone**;
- **Available from** and **Available until** — the time of day when the checklist can be completed;
- **Scoring method** — **In percent** or **In points**. New checklists use **In points** by default. How both methods work is explained in [How the audit score is calculated](/docs/checklists/scoring);
- **Send the report to the location email** — after every audit the report goes to the "Location email for reports" from the location card (see [Locations](/docs/team/locations)), whatever the score. The toggle is off for new checklists.

These settings apply once you click **Save** in the dialog.

## Builder side panel

- **Folder** — which folder the checklist goes into; the **Create folder** link creates a new one.
- **Violation tasks** — the automation scenario for this checklist.
- **Section roles** — which position is responsible for violations in a section.
- **Features** — toggles for **Location** (the phone's coordinates are attached to the audit), **Signature** (the auditor signs before submitting) and **AI plan** (AI review in the report, see [Audit report](/docs/checklists/audit-report)).

## Preview

The **Preview** button in the builder's top bar shows the checklist the way the auditor will see it: sections and questions in builder order, answer options (**Yes**, **No**, **Skip** — if skipping is allowed — or a text field), hints, **Photo required** marks, attachment sources and, for the **In points** method, the question weight and maximum points. You can't answer in the preview — it's view-only.

The question order you set by dragging in the builder is the same as in the mobile app.

## Copy, delete and restore

In the **Work → Checklists** list, every checklist has an **Actions** menu: **Edit**, **Duplicate** (a copy with all sections and questions) and **Delete**. Deleted checklists stay on the **Deleted** tab for 90 days — you can **Restore** them from there.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I create a question with a scale or multiple choice?

No. There are currently two question types: **Yes / No** and **Text field**. Set an item's importance with its weight.

### Why didn't changing the weight affect the score?

Most likely the checklist's scoring method is **In percent** — with it, all items weigh the same. Switch the method to **In points** in **Settings**.

### How do I keep things organized when there are many checklists?

Put checklists into folders in the builder's side panel. In the **Work → Checklists** list, you can search by name, description, author and folder.
